GMB Calls For Investigation Into Fourth EDF Energy Workers Death In A Year

An EDF Energy maintenance worker was killed in an explosion at an electricity sub-station on Wednesday 7th May at 12.30pm while carrying out maintenance work at the above near Anglia Ruskin College near Chelmsford Essex. This is the fourth fatality in EDF Energy in a year.
The worker who was killed on Wednesday was a long standing employee of EDF Energy with lots of experience and was only a couple of months away from retirement at 60.
GMB is calling for on EDF Energy and the HSE for an immediate investigation into these four deaths. GMB wants action over the four deaths in a year of energy workers.
Glen Holdom, GMB Organiser said, “This is the fourth regrettable fatality in EDF Energy Networks branch in a year. This is totally unacceptable. GMB and others unions are committed to ensure that this does not happen again.”
