GMB TO OPPOSE ALL REDUNDANCIES
Reacting to the news today that up to 1,100 jobs are being cut by British Gas, including closure of the Home Services Operations Centre in Mitcham, Surrey, the GMB - Britains General Union vowed they will do all they can to prevent redundancies.
Brian Strutton, GMB National Secretary for Energy and Utilities said:
The GMB is dismayed at these staff cuts and we will be doing all we can to prevent redundancies. It is clear to us that the company is totally bereft of any strategy or ideas for the business. If they want to save costs they would be better shutting one of their huge corporate head offices rather than taking away operational staff who look after paying customers.
